Variety reports that Kevin Smith will write and direct a film adaptation of "The Green Hornet" for Miramax Films. Smith expects that the script will be completed by late summer.

George Clooney and Jet Li were once attached to play the Green Hornet and his sidekick, Kato, respectively, when the project was at Universal. No casting decisions have been made yet.

"The Green Hornet," which was introduced in 1938 as a radio serial, told the story of Britt Reid, a newspaper mogul who was a crimefighter by night.
