Since I've been trying to learn "Crazy Train" I've come to see what a great guitar player Randy Rhoads was. I was hoping some of you might be able to recommend some of his work...
I was in a car with a friend and heard one song with a massive solo that was awesome-- my friend's comment was "Zakk Wylde wrote the solo, but Randy Rhoads perfected it"-- dunno if that means anything to you guys.

Well his work with Ozzy is on Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman and Tribute . IMHO, BoO is Ozzy's best album and a metal masterpiece. DoaM I don't care so much for. Tribute is good too, basically a 'Best Of' live w/ Randy Rhoads.
The only other Rhoads stuff you will find is with Quiet Riot on recordings in the late 70s.
As for your friend's quote, I can't even begin to understand what he means.

Oh I should mention alot of the early Ozzy stuff has been redone, like on Tribute he dubbed in some new vocals and double-tracked them.
A re-released BoO has all new drums and bass which is a fucking atrocious thing for them to do.

Well I think Zakk Wylde played some guitar with Ozzy, right? Maybe its a song from that era but played live (cuz what I heard was live) in a show during the Randy Rhoads era?
That seems plausible to me, but I don't know enough...

Yeah Zakk plays with Ozzy but your friend's quote still doesn't make sense since Zakk came AFTER Randy. Unless he is trying to say something else, though I have no idea what it could be.

Oh and Bernie if you want to listen to some kick-ass guitar playing, pick up Ozzy's Live and Loud. Zakk is a MONSTER on that.
