Good luck!
I was nervous too. First song was Collective Soul's Shine and I was afraid I was gonna fuck up the solo so bad. I was more nervous about that then anything else.

You're gonna fuck up. That's just how it goes. Hopefully it won't be bad, though. Just remember that everyone is there by choice for a good time and really won't care or probably even notice if you goof, so try to relax and become one with teh rock.

Since we were opening band they were like only 40 people or so, but there were screaming girls so I guess it wasn't so bad
although I am upset at my sister because she recorded em in a poor manner... and no good pics either :/
here are bits and pieces but i hope to get a full proper recorded version later, including the first song (Plush by STP)

Not very good, and they don't show Ray (pro lead guitarist helping us out)
and here is a band called plummet, the singer Jason was the drummer of our 3 songs, really pro drummer and multi-talented dude

Most important thing is I didn't screw up too bad and we had fun

I was too tired to stay for the whole gig, so I missed a few really good bands...

Looks cool man. Nice big stage and lights!
And yes, interesting camera work.

Oh and I like that Hoobastank one. Myself and the girl I jam with (she sings, I use her acoustic) do that song and Running Away by them, though it's been a while since we played either so I don't think I remember them anymore.
Posted by: Fuzz
yah the hoobastank one is a good stage song, especially with our LeeT drummer
I was too nervous to headbang properly though

The only way to eliminate nervousness is to know your music forwards and backwards...and make sure your equipment is solid.
Then...you can go to work on your stage presence.
That wont of course totally eliminate it but I rememebr how nervous Iwas when we first started playing. We threw 30 songs together in about 2 months then started booking gigs.
Thats a lot of music to remember.
I remember playing the keyboard tracks to "Waiting for a Girl Like You" (foreigner) one night. It was the first time we had played the song away from practice...and keyboards werent my real thing anyway. We had hurried it to get it ready.
The synt walkdown (keyboard) was a difficult one for me and during that walkdown Im basically the only thing heard...so any mistake is impossible to cover up. Sure enough...I missed a note and ended up a 1/2 note off which sounded horrible. Some guy in the back of the room said "ohhhhhhhhhhh ughhhh" like he'd been shot. All the band started laughing..me too...but I was sooooooooooo embarassed.
After that...we didnt do any more songs that involved keyboards until I said "I" was ready
The real secret though, to kill the creepies, is to know the music inside and out..have a strobe tuner (or whatever they are using nowdays) to minimize out of tune problems, good quality guitar and mic cables, toy boxes, etc.
A good sound check is critical as well. It doesnt make any difference the quality of music that you might play...if it doesnt "sound" good they wont like or appreciate it. We used a pinknoise anaylzer to do the PA columns. (everything was miked and played through them) This really helped because different rooms and areas have different effects and inputs to lows, and highs. And then that too even changes when it fills up with people. I hope you got a good sound guy that has the ability to make changes on the fly.
Good luck.
Also, make sure you record your performance so you can critique it afterwards.
