There's Rome: Total War and Battle for Middle Earth, but the genre has kind of fizzled out in the wake of FPSes and MMORPGS

I'm not sure if Rome can make that late 2k4 release 
But I do agree with the damn overflow of MMORPGs

There's also the new Warhammer game, that looks pretty good. Ground Control 2's supposed to be out by the end of the year as well.
