I am looking at getting a killer laptop. Need to know what brands are good, what ones are not.
Bestbuy has an eMachine with the athlon 64, radeon 9000 for about 1600 USD.
point me in the right direction for something similar to this maybe too

Dell has an Inspiron 9100 that has a 64MB ATI Mobility™ Radeon™ 9700 for 1549 on their site. I think that would be very nice and alot better than an E machine.

Nice brands (e.g. Ones that are very easy to work on  ):
Toshiba
HP
and Alienware (but you pay too much for it...)
Dell is pretty decent...
Not sure about eMachines as I hate their desktop with a passion....but I have not touched one of their laptops.
Ones to avoid:
Sony,
Compaq,
Acer if you see one,
Uummmm just about any other one

I have decided on getting a Sager.
Just have to pay off soem stuff and save up since financing is out of the question.
I MIGHT get a alienware if they still have their 6 months no interest financing when I do buy one.
