Gentoo Linux + Screen = Control Lock?(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've been using Gentoo for a few weeks now, and I spend a lot of time using screen, in order to be able to move between several prompts (I'm usually logged into linux.ox.ac.uk via ssh all the time). I also have a dedicated Windows XP box. I use a Belkin KVM switch to alternate between the Linux box and the windows box.
Occasionally, when using screen and switching back to the linux box, I get an effect where every character that I type is effectively a control character. Q becomes ^Q (XON), and so forth. the only way I can fix this is by moving to runlevel 6 and rebooting. (Ctrl-Alt-Del works, and user rdevz is in the wheel group, thank God). Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Ah, found a workaround. Hitting A, followed by X, in effet sends ^A ^X to screen, which locks it and cancels the control-lock. I then just enter my password as normal, and all is right with the world.
