What exactly does "netspeed" do in UT?
I know its associated with your type of connection, 56k, isdn or broadband but thats not telling me what it does actually.
The reason I ask is this...I have seen too many times to be an accident or fluke...when set to "cable, broadband"....Im on one of our west coast servers pinging around 60...and having abnormal difficulty in killing other players...I exit out...set my netspeed to ISDN...return to the game...and killability is much better. Im on cable btw.
What is up with that? Any ideas? Can you ask somebody there if you dont know?
Thanks

you have the Dynamic Netspeed box Checked? If so the game will adjust your netspeed accordingly, this Can and will lead to trouble if you have a stable connection. Uncheck this box, set your netspeed to 10000

Netspeed sets the rate of communication between client and server in bytes (netspeed x8 for bps). Both the client and server have netspeed settings and while I really don't know exactly how the code handles it... the bottom line is (in UT at least) if you set your netspeed more than a bit higher than the server's "maxclientrate", then you'll end up with what feels like "virtual packet loss". It's as if the server is throwing out the excess packets with pure rate limiting rather then simply resyncing the client's connection at a lower speed.

You can always read TNSe's explanation unless your head goes halfway through.
