Rachel's PSU started acting up (shutting off at random intervals) last week and it was only a year or two old. I bought a new one and the problem is solved, but I'm curious if this is a common occurance?
If you've ever had a PSU fail, please post:
1) Brand/Model/Rating.
2) Type of failure.
3) Age at failure.
Thanks

I had two 400W Elcheepos fry when I first built my current rig. A 350W Antec solved the problem.
Other than that, I had another (quite long ago) suddenly go out. That one was probably from lack of air flow and steady rise in operating temp over the months.
While there isn't too many high impedence circuits in these PSUs, just the same it might not do them too much good when their coating of dust gets a drink of moist air. Thus, IMO, the best thing you can do for them is keep them dust free and keep the air moving through.
