So, in a previous thread, I said I lost the systray icon for F@H.
Couldn't bring back the window. Pause the work, anything.
Closed the program with task manager, and lost all my work.

I brought up task manager and just killed the process.
Reran winFAH and it connected to the network, downloaded a new unit, and has restarted work, on a brand new unit.
I wonder if logging out/rebooting would have been the better option...
Well, last night, to make up, I left my pc on all night.
During the middle of the night, it finished the WU I had, and tried to connect to the server. I wasn't connected, so it just sat there.
I looked at it htis morning, saw it was done, didn't think much of it.
Turned off the pc. Came back tonight. Turned on the PC.
It downloaded a totally new WU. No uploading the old unit.
This is fucking BS.
I lost 2 days of work because of a fucking stupid ass program.
Fuck this, I think I'm gonna grab the command line version. I doubt it has this much trouble!!
I am so pissed off at this shit now, I am debating stopping work.
Its ridiculous.

This is just crunch and go for a lot of us. Some run Folding with no hard drives as an example so in essence, get rid of the GUI and run the console.
Even if you get the console version it "MUST" be terminated with a "ctrl c". I don't see how you could have lost two WU's, even with a cold boot without "something: checking if your hard drive is okay, which basically erases your folding queue.
I asked in other threads and got no reply so fair warning...
Do not run Norton or checkdisk or anything that runs automatically upon a reboot or you will lose WU's, even those stored in the queue.
Speaking of the queue, did you check to see if they were in there with...
fah4console -queueinfo
Sorry for the trouble but don't feel bad. There is a learning curve and want to feel bad, feel bad for me? I have lost a minimum of 100 WU's and I bet Dork has as well.

The only way I've lost work is with a hard reset of the machine. Any other way of terminating the folding process has always allowed it to pick up from where it left off.
Do what Searcher said and check the queue for unsent units before doing anything else other than maybe putting the command line version in the same directory

Exit the process the correct way and install the console version.
cd c:\folding presuming you put the folding directory right under the root.
fah4console -config
setup the console with your user name, team number etc.
Then...
From the command line, while sitting in the folding directory.
fah4console -send all
It is recomended to use the -send all switch with the console not running, your mileage may vary.
If it refuses to send, the server may be busy so dont sweat it. It will retry the snd every 6 hours. Run the -verbosity 9 switch to get the max amount of info you can into your log file. This switch should be in the short cut you create to start Folding on every reboot.
