All things being equal (same hardware setup), is it better to get the small GROMACS to work on or the large tinkers?
It takes me 6 minutes to do one frame of a tinker (400 frames, 239 points), but only 3 minutes to do one step of a gromacs (100 steps, 20 points).
Which will give me more ppd?

Let's do some math.
The tinker will give you 239 pts after 40 hr (6min x 400 / 60).
Now, let's compare that same 40hr timespan with a gromac.
Assuming you get the same gromac every time:
One will use 5hr to finish (3min x 100 / 60)
In 40hr you will finish 8 of these yielding 8 x 20pts = 160 pts.
The tinker wins easily.

Have a P3 700 down and setting up a P4 HT 2.6 in it's place.
Then a P3 500 comes down as is replaced with the identical P4 setup.

BTW, I dont have access to a P4. Anyone have frametimes on Dgromacs using SSE2?
Just curious.
