Nah, just let it run 24/7. 
I have a 600 myself running and it uses typical 2 days on a 44pts gromac and 8 days on a large tinker.

Yeah, there's a huge difference between P3's and P4's, I noticed.

Depends on the P3. Coppermines aren't very fast, but 1.13ghz and above Tualatins (w 512KB cache) are faster than my old P4 1.8A.

Deadlines should be fine as long as the PC is on 24/7.
