OK, so I'm looking for a motherboard that has these specifications, but I'm not sure if such a thing exists yet, and it's making me mad.

Socket 754 AMD Athlon 64 up to 3400+
FSB up to 1600 MHz
4 DDR slots @ 400 MHz at least 4 GB

And I don't care about the rest.

I'm guessing the 4 slots is going to be the harder feature to find. At newegg you can specify those types of things in a search filter.

I did, and not one mobo came up.

Also, I was going to buy a socket 954, but I was told that I don't want to go with Opteron chips because they are designed for servers. Well...server mobos/chips are generally more powerful...aren't they?

Socket 939 is the new one I believe. That is what gives Athlon64s the ability to do dual-channel (2 sticks of equal ram for better performance).

I'm pretty sure you will find that benchmarks show that the Athlon64 line of processors is much more attractive for gaming and general use than the Opterons.

I just ordered parts last week, and at that time I don't think socket 939 was available. Maybe it is by now. If not, you won't have to wait long.

The 64s benifit from much improved architecture. The mem controller is on die int he 64s and they interface with system memory directly thru a hyper channel that, IIRC basically removes the need for a north bridge

This should do the trick:

GIGABYTE "GA-K8NSNXP-939"

Or this

Or this

Just a warning - very few boards can run DDR400 at full speed if all memory slots are populated. Even if they can, you may be restricted to particular memory configurations.
