Check out the Apple .Mac welcome page. Notice the .Mac icon at the top left, and the 'Free Trial' and 'Buy Now' buttons near the center? In particular, notice the 'crystal ball' lighting effects they have? I'd like a tutorial on how to do that in PSCS. I checked out the tutorials thread, but I was absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of links in there. Help!

For Glass buttons and spheres, I found this tutorial pretty good
As for the curved lines, I'd be tempted to try and draw them normally on a seperate layer with the brush tool and put random 'spots' with a larger brush at the intersections. I would then distort the layer by the sphereize or polar co-ordinates filter (under the distort menu) to give the curved effect. Overlay on your button/sphere and try different blending modes to make it blend into the sphere. reducing the opacity of the lines layer might make it look more 'embedded' in the glass.
I haven't tried any of this since I don't have PD handy, but that's what I'd try It may not work as expected

Thanks KT! That's exactly what I needed.

OK, now I've tried this quickly at home, I'd use the spherize filter twice at 100% to get the sphere mapping shape
