What the heck, I'll add a poll.

But what I was wondering is if people could prefix book titles in thread heading or text by saying if its Fiction or Non-Fiction.

I"m more of a Non-Fiction reader myself with exceptions.

Same here. I used to be into science fiction, but after college and studying 5th century Athens, I felt more inclined to read the literature of past cultures, as I have come to find the past more fascinating and intriguing than any fiction - For the simple fact that all the cool coincidences, triumphs, tragedies and discoveries happened to real people.

Take for example World War Two. Not that I read books about WWII (too recent for me), but the stuff that actually happened is way more thrilling than you'd lend credence to. Even fictional stories set in that era are nothing compared with the truth. And the sheer scale of it! And the fact that even now some secrets are still left unrevealed. It's overwhelming because it happened in the real world and people had to deal with it and it impacted everything we do today.

I like that edge of realism to my literature, even it means finding out about things which no one should have to live through. It spurs you on to change the world around you and for the better, I find. And maybe, even you don't make a significant difference, some reader in the distance future will have an inkling that at least you tried (and even came close) and maybe they'll be inspired. Maybe they'll be the ones to bring about that change. It's all interconnected.

I should be moving house soon, so I've had to decide which books to cart down to the charity shops and which to keep. It's the classical texts and the non-fiction that I'm keeping, (for the most part, anyway).

You mean rarely non-fiction, right? Since Scifi and fantasy books would be fiction.

I'm the same way. Most books I read have a comedic or satirical edge to them.

Mostly Scifi and Fantasy.
But also History books and historical fiction.
