Project 263

It's taking like an hour per step.

If taking an hour per for the 263 Gromacs, I would guess you were running about a 2 GIG processor.

These 221 point Gromacs are giving me 3.2 to 3.3 points per hour while the 221 point Tinkers are giving me 4.9 points per hour at 41 minutes per step for the Gromacs.

This with a 2.7 GIG Intel.

I have fah set as the preference for nine processors but still have four running Gromacs.

When the points were opposite, I used to be able to expunge a nasty Tinker and keep at it until I got a Gromac but it either wont work for me any more or I have simply lost patience and don't make as many tries as I used to do.

I wont comment on "someone has to do them".

Why shouldn't they?

You can't control whether you get a tinker or a gromac.

You can up to a point.

One has preference queries which are...

gah? fah? no pref?

and can be found by answering "y" when asked if you want to change advanced options with the console versions.

If I set "no pref" I could see the 50/50 mix I am getting but since I have all processors set to "fah" as primary preference I can only conclude that Stanford has a need to pump out more Gromacs than Tinkers at this time.

Yes, but you will still get a mix.

BTW, I got a 263 on my 600 now. Uses almost 2 hours / step.

I have two tinkers on my P4, thank god

Once again I think this is more evidence of RAM counting for something.

I've actually only got a P4 1.5GHz; despite SDRAM winning the war, I think that RDRAM was much better. Too bad I can't upgrade what I have now though.
