Seen some new animes.... epinions.

I'll make it as short as I can.

Lunar Legend Tsukihime:

Fantasy, romance stuff... It feels coming inpired from a hentai anime I've watched a long time ago (I can't remember the name). The music, the ambiance, the character design are just fantastic. You can feel strong hentai roots in the serie, but it's classy, it goes straight to the story, it's short... there's not a single lame moment in and you just want more of it.

Excellent serie.
Would I recommend it? YES

Elfen Lied:

Fucked up, fucked up and fucked up
It's violent, ecchi, AND MATURE.

Top notch serie althought not for everyone.
Would I recommend it? YES

Madlax:

Boring, boring and boring...
Coming from the same people who did Noir and .hack//sign, well no wonder...

Shitty anime.
Would I recommend it? NO

That's it for this week.

It's actually based upon a video game.

Agreed.

You obviously weren't watching the same series I was.

13 episodes, and at times, I felt the story was too rushed. I would have liked more character-building episodes. I enjoyed the series, and woudl recommend it to others, but would have liked to seen more of the world, more of Ciel-sempai's history, and such...

Agreed.

LOL Kosh, looks like you are in a bad mood

First, the anime is based on a hentai game... and it feels strongly hentai althought you won't see anything nasty.

Think about it... One isolated male who is underage and has no parents, plenty of other female characters evolving around him: the maids, the sister (non blood related of course), the two classmates, and of course a male character doesn't get any

And yes, I have seen a hentai with the same kind of settings years ago, same ambiance, and weird atmosphere. It was also extremely graphic, but it's nothing new, and a lot other hentais have the same ambiance.

That's why I think it has strong hentai roots in it.

The story is about an impossible and eternal love between Shiki and Arc... well if that's not romance?

As for the shortness of the serie... well I think it's just the right size althought I am just asking for more... lots of serie shoot for 26 episodes and more and you'll find filler episodes that are uninteresting... unrelated to the main plot... this one goes right to it, and focuses only on the 2 main characters (althought I'd love to know more about Arc.).

Oh and I thought I watched only 12 episodes... there's a 13th one? or can we be hoping for a second season?

there are 12 and yes it's a good series although the ending is a bit anticlimatic.

And Elfen Lied is good too

Just cause I disagree with some of what you say, I'm in a bad mood?

So, by your definition, then... The various "Tenchi" series are hentai, because his father is a pervert, he's surrounded by beautiful girls, and he doesn't get any?

I agree that there was some romantic tension, but I disagree that the focus of the series was that romance between Shiki and Arcuied.

No, you're right, there's only twelve episodes. I was wrong when I said it was 13.

Look, we're basically quibbling over the small print. We both like the series and would recommend it. You liked it because of it's strong hentai ("pervert/perversion") roots and influences and ambiance. I liked it because it was a solid vampire/macabre/supernatural storyline.

Tenchi is not hentai, but it's has its part of fan service, but if you take a close look, in all kinda ecchi animes, there's always that close female cousin or sister (non blood related of course) and all those girls around that single male character (who usually looks like a loser, is weak, undecided, don't have clue about what's going around him with girls etc etc)... and that includes hentai of course

I didn't say Tsukihime was hentai either (regarding fanservice), nor that it has any similitude with Tenchi, it's just that it shares that drama, settings and ambiance that I saw in some hentais, and that's where it shines because it doesn't have that nasty aspect of the hentai (which usually ruin what could have been a good serie), the story doesn't get cheesy, it's classy all the way long.

Strange thing is that 2 of the most popular anime right now, Lunar Legend Tsukihime and Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (and I am sure there are others) are both at the origin h-games

Elfen Leid is incredibly bloody *shudders*

Not good to watch while one is eating

I never though Elfen Lied would turn out like this.. I expected some sort of fantasy story, yet I got presented something *alot* different. Since it has already been licensed, I'll buy this one for sure after having seen 10 eps.

I'm currently waiting depserately for some new fall aniem to be subbed. Saw Mai Hime this morning and found it somewhat below average.. Windy tales has surprisingly unique art, yet a story which doesn't seem grab me as much as other unfortunately.

As for H-game based series. There are good (KGNE, Tsukihime) as well as horrible (Green Green, Popotan) series around

Ping: Dean

Thanks for the teaser clip BTW, I appreciated the design but I wasn't really in the mood for the knife scene. It caught me completely off guard and I was like, no.... he's not....

Just a big wuss here I guess

Posted by: deanx0r

Yup, it's a great serie

It's been just released on DVD recently in NA.
I am hoping for an OVA or a sequel of the serie tho... the whole thing was wayyyyyyy toooo depressing to watch

Elfen Lied was good, but thankfully, it was also short.
The very first episode really impresses, deeper into the serie, it appears to be nothing original. The theme, ideas are nothing new at all, but mixing them with some ecchi and gore made an excellent cocktail.

I almost wish Elfen Lied was longer, but it's fine as it is. The manga is even more violent than the show as well, but seems to handle the plot better.

There aren't any new shows out right now that interest me besides Monster.

Posted by: PlasmaSamurai

Samurai Champloo 's been back

School Rumble (lots of light hearted humor, reminds me of Azumanga Daioh but with more males)

Yakitate! Japan (humurous show about cooking, Love the expressions upon tasting the food , but I prefer the related Manga Addicted to Curry a lil more)

Genshiken (Anime show about the life of a group of College Otakus & a non-otaku, and their adventures together as a club )

I haven't seen anything new in a while. My anime budget was crushed.

I liked the story overall, but I felt that there were too many moments that were supposed to be dramatic that just came across as "wtf move it along" Maybe Im just impatient.

Azuma Kazuma!

One of the few animes which I would recommend over the manga
Spoiler:
Since the corniness of the tasting animation in no way can be drawn to its full effect in manga pages
