Main PC finally up and running!

After about a month of downtime, my main rig is finally working again. Just as a cautionary tale, here is what happened:

It was working great, when suddenly it just died. Wouldn't boot, and the power supply would start the fans up the moment that you enabled the PWS.

Replacing the PWS didn't fix the problem though. That is because when the power supply failed, it took the motherboard with it. It may have also taken one of my IDE drives (luckily the backup), but I haven't fully verified that yet.

On a high note, it seems to be running faster than it did before (possibly a later rev of mobo that I got as a replacement from newegg).

Ouch. Sorry to hear about the bad power chain reaction. What brand PSU was it that failed?

It was a 420 watt that came with the cheapo Raidmax case I bought.

I replaced it with a 420 watt Thermaltake. So far so good.

That is probably the last case I buy with a built-in PWS, unless it's Antec of course.

And it is DEFINITELY the last MSI board I buy. I have had much better luck with Asus.
