Moving from 56k to dsl... How do you do it?(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I figured that some of the gamers around here might have made this move, and I would sure appreciate some pointers. I'm very confused about thigs like you need an ISP and your DSL service? Your ISP must have DSL support? I just want something faster than dialup - none of this optomized crap. I'd like to move on to some sort of hi-speed connection - as cheaply as possible. If you have any services you're happy with, or know of any that are good, or any info about this subject at all could you post here and share it?
Thanks!

High speed comes in cable or via DSL over phone lines.
Internet Service Providers are the people who supply the internet over one of these lines.
So, give your local cable provider a call, and your local DSL provider a call, see which is a) in your area, b) which is cheeper or gives better options (eg 2mbts> 1mbts)
They will set you up with everything
Baring that, post this in the GTF

The only site you need to bookmark is Broadband Reports. Go there now. It lets you plug in any continental US address and get a complete breakdown of the broadband options in your area.
