Synopsis:

The National Security Agency (NSA) uses a incredibly powerful computer system to crack encryption codes used by the world's criminal and terrorist organizations. So powerful is this computer that most codes succumb within 13 minutes, and no encryption scheme has lasted longer than 3 hours before being cracked. When a code dumbfounds the system for over 18 hours, and throws the NSA into a panic, all hell breaks loose.

The code is the handiwork of one of the NSA's former employees who vowed to protect the privacy of the world's citizens by thwarting the NSA's code-breaking behemoth. He's proven that he can do it, now he intends to sell the encryption code to the highest bidder.

And with that, the race is on to find the programmer. The NSA wants to stop him from selling the code, and to get the only two copies of the unlocking "key" from him. However, there is someone else who is hunting for the programmer... someone who intends to take the passkey by force, and doublecross the programmer.

I'm about 1/2-way through the book. I'm listening to it on audio, in the car on my drive to and from work/school.

So far it's been engrossing, and entertaining. It's not as intricately detailed as The Da Vinci Code, but it's a solid techno-espionage-thriller, that is fast paced.

I read this one before the Davinci Code and didn't realise it was the same author. I really enjoyed it. All his books are fast reads and very entertaining.

I bought it, read it, and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Although, you'll find people, mostly self-proclaimed computer "experts", who scoff at the notion and the way some things are portrayed in the book by the NSA and so forth...
