Use the router. If it's a decent router, it should cache DNS queries locally and speed things up rather a lot if your ISP DNS servers aren't right there in your back yard. Otherwise, it doesn't matter much because the router knows your ISP DNS settings too, so the first query for any given domain is still going to the same place (your ISP dns servers). The upside of using the router is if your ISP changes DNS servers, the router should know about it and update automatically.
