Skinning/Leather or Skinning/Mining?(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm a 220 skinner and a 146 leatherworker...I'm beginning to think that mining would be better than leatherworking because learning patterns to make things that I can sell only barely above what a NPC vendor would give me seems stupid when I could be selling skinned items AND mined items.
Unlearning leatherworking and learning mining seems like a smart choice...I'm aware I can only mine copper until I get to lvl 65-- will I need to stay in lower lvl areas for a couple hours to do this or is there copper in abundance in any areas more around my level (30-35)?
Thoughts?

I've heard that being the resource gatherer is the way to go.
So skinning and mining would be good.

If you switch to mining, you'll probably want to hang around lowbie areas, since it's no fun running across a tin or silver vein and needing 60-70 more skill points to mine it.

Stick with what you've got but just auction stacks of leather, tis what I do. Make good money on it too.

You'll make lots of money later on into the game.
