A retrospective thank you to <WFS>...

I've spent some time lately browsing back through this forum and looking over the five years of history that are documented in it. Wow. It's almost a little overwhelming at times.

It's almost difficult for me to understand how depressed I was for a while back then. How I felt back then is not stated any more clearly anywhere else than it was in some of my posts here in this forum. I know that since those times I've posted here letting people know that I've been doing much better, but I have had ups and downs. I think everyone does. I've learned how to better deal with the downs and I'm living a very happy and fulfilling life. I wanted to again thank those who were there to listen and offer advice to me when I felt like I was sinking. When you're mad at your folks and your friends (or lack of) aren't there for you, it's not so silly to think that a group of people you play UT or post on a forum with are important...

You all were very important.

Thank you.

Now...a blast from the past, but one that should not be forgotten:

The first ever <WFS> ladder victory:

I spent a long time playing Unreal Tournament and this was undoubtedly the high point.

It was a great pleasure to join and eventually lead <WFS>.

It's odd when a game and the friends you make playing it can help you get through... but life is funny that way.

Sounds silly to say, but WFS really taught me a lot. WFS was my first UT clan, and I remember I was so happy to join. As a youngin', it honestly did teach me things about responsibility, loyalty, friendship, and teh art of losing (which, yeah, we lost a few ), but all in all, having a good time

I know what ya mean Bernie. I wasn't exactly the most emotionally stabile child. But I could play a few rounds with my clanmates and just have a blast. I owe all of you a huge thanks for supporting me

Still have some old WFS screenshots aved on my comp, I'll browse through em this weekend or so, for nostalgia's sake.

So, to all the current, retired, and otherwise unaccounted for WFS members...thanks for rockin' in the free world

WFS will live on for sure. In spirit at least.

All of my old ones were lost after I went off to college...

Post some of 'em!

as for US being important?

the core group here made other connections, more than just INTERNET friends, for many of us a bar, and a beer, and good times, would fit the situation almost perfectly.

Since we decided to stop playing UT99 and try to move on Things have changed, for some the game was just too different, too difficult, or some major life changes that had impact, but we've never strayed far from What we do. Play 'cause it's FUN.
