I really can't describe Noein in any way that would remotely make sense, but I found it thoroughly enjoyable. I especially liked how different realities got their own distinctive art style.

one of the f ew dementia series which I actually enjoyed quite a bit if it weren't for one annoying protagonist (that small boy thingy whazzizname), but even the ending was fairly nice (Y)
If you wish to look for a slightly similar feel, but in a more futuristic cyberpunk universe. I can definately recommend Ergo proxy as well.
