I'm feeling a little exhausted from reading all weekend (finished 6 again this weekend too).
I was anxious for Hogwarts and more action from the very start. But obviously life wasn't going to be the same. I think Rowling did a very good job of showing the human-ness of everyone involved. Mistakes were made, emotions were real.
I thought for sure Harry would say something to Mr. Weasley in the elevator in the MOM. I thought Harry might say something to..Dean.. the one Order guy.. and the other who was on the cliff with them that night.
The scene that tore me up the most was Harry walking out to die. It was specifically when he used the Resurrection Stone to bring back the dead and asked for comfort. I bawled.
JK said that 2 main characters would die. I guess she doesn't realize how attached people become to her 2ndary chars because all the other deaths were just as bad. Owls count too!
Lets talk Snape. Snape was a very interesting character. From his loathing of Harry for the likeness of James to the shielding of Harry for his love of Lily. What a great setup. I can't say Snape was the best villan of all times. He was more like the best martyr.
I guessed the part about Harry being a horcrux early on. But recently I considered the prophecy differently: Neither can live (2 people) while the other survives (3rd person). I was betting on Longbottom being one of the 2 and that he and Harry had to kill the big V. One of the reasons I bet on this was because Longbottom had found the prophecy in the movie and I was assuming that was accurate because I hadn't recalled the book before seeing the movie (so not to spoil it). Only those involved in the prophecy can find it. So that was a movie faux pas.
I felt at many times that things should have worked out differently. I stop short of saying far fetched for the Death Eaters to fail fighting those students at any time due to difference in training. But I didn't allow my mind to dwell on it and pushed forward.
I was very happy with the ending and thought it was very well done. Even though it was very Jesus Christ'y. I think the moral that we need to suffer in life and defend the greater good was a good message.
RIP Snape
I'm looking forward to re-reading the series again.
What are your favourite parts? What upset you the most?

My favorite part of the entire book has to be the line in the epilogue about Snape being the bravest man Harry knew. It brought everything full circle for me.
