And it was awesome. It's finally started to stray from the original series. I haven't seen any of the OVAs in English yet, but I'm looking forward to that as well.

By "stray" you mean it's staying true to the original story.
And this is definitely the best one so far.
The OVAs have almost the same english cast as the original show (except for Seras, she's significantly improved)

What's going with Hellsing OVA?
They seem to release one episode a year. I cant seem to hold that long to get hooked up to the story :/

Geneon/Pioneer hit a snag in the NA market which resulted in their liquidation of their NA division. During this time, Hellsing Ultimate was paused as it mostly sells outside of Japan.
After everything was sorted, though, it looks like HU will continue. However, they only have one or two OVAs until they catch up with the manga so expect slower releases.
And this is the perfect thread to bring this up as well.
