So 'just for fun' yesterday (New Years Eve) after watching an advert for it my girlfriend and I decided to Try Warcraft for the free ten day trial. We ended up enjoying the first few hours so much we went and bought two copies for £10 each and when we input the serial keys into our online accounts, it gave us another month free on top of our ten days and unlocked all of the game's features - all without needing to sign up for the monthly fee!

If anyone else decides to join - we're on the Arathor server, on the Alliance side.

After two days, I'm a level 15 Hunter with my own pet panther. This game is classic but more addictive than crack.

Ping: JaKeL
He and La Fee Verte both play, Along with their roommate.
It is one House of crack.

Welcome to World of NotimeforanythingbutWarcraft.
I play mainly on Horde Mal'Ganis, and used to play Alliance on Kil'jaeden.

I'm not as bad as JaKeL or our roommate, but it is a lot of fun.

It is a *bit* addictive. You'll be playing and the next thing you know, five hours have gone by.

You should have tried Guild Wars instead There's no monthly fees at all. I've been playing GW off and on for about 3 years now.

Same, but less of the "off" and more of the "on."

There was once a time when people would sign on to GW to find me before looking on MSN. I seem to be an unofficial NPC.

I'm trying the GWEN trial Schesis and you're right - I like the Charr homelands Don't know if I'll purchase the game though. I'm enjoying it more than the Factions by a long shot.

Pay no attention to the old guy with the megaphone and the striped pyjamas.

I just went back to Guild Wars after spending my time with FPS games. My characters were waiting for me with some first year birthday presents. I even scored me a Prince Rurik. All in, not a bad haul for ignoring the game for several months.

Can you ignore WoW for several months and find yourself better off than when you left it?

I play WoW.

I probably spent way too much time on my PvP Tauren shaman . Did that with the group of Leet Llamas and friends on a PvP server.

Lately I've been spending time on the Proudmoore server (PvE), as part of "The Spreading Taint," the world largest GLBT gaming group. All told, there's just over 1,000 players in the guild.

I love WoW but can't really pay the monthly sub. GW is something I'd like to try....maybe I'll hint around for my birthday.

Can you guys describe GW and what's it's like to play vs. WoW? The one thing about GW I noticed is that even though there's no monthly sub, they put out a lot of expansions that you'd have to buy.

You don't have to buy anything, if you don't want to. Dunno about how enjoyable it is in this day and age, I've felt it pretty much dying for the last 2 years. Most places are pretty much deserted, so you'd need to be in a guild to get anywhere fast, unless you dislike playing with other people ofcourse, the hench/hero npcs let you do that.

Yeah you don't have to buy the expansions to play, but the skills offered in the expansions make it worth it. I've played WoW for all of 2 hours, so I can't compare the two save for the fact that WoW was the worst thing I've experienced in a long long time.

I'd have quit GW by now if it weren't for the PvP. I'm probably going to try AO once the new graphics engine hits.

That's kinda what I was afraid of. That you'd HAVE to buy all the expansions to play with (and make) friends. The social aspect is one of my favorite things about WoW. But I dunno, I still want to give GW a try and see if I like it.

I used to play GW, but then I got sucked into WoW and play it exclusively now.

I have a 70 MM/SV Hunter on Aggramar (US).
