I really want to watch this, but I'm really conflicted. I want to be surprised with the game. Dammit, what should I do? D:

Hibernate in a cave until it's released.

The class videos are safe. There's one for Adept as well. No spoilage.

You may want to avoid the E3 and character reveal videos, however.

Everyone knows how much of a Mass Effect fanboy I am so I won't repeat myself here other than to say I think my head is going to explode soon.

Also, Jeri. Check out the overhaul they've done of the UAC exploration missions. It's amazing. Like 300x better than ME1.

Bah, I need to finish Mass Effect first.

Already got Mass Effect 2 on pre-order.

And to think, I probably wouldn't give a crap about this game if I hadn't won it in a sweepstakes.

Yes I skipped Dragon Age. Not that I think it's a bad game, just that i know I won't be able to do it justice.

oh ffs

http://kotaku.com/5419999/completel...loading-screens

So...in ME1, traditional loading screens were replaced with elevator rides where you could hear galactic news reports or listen to banter between party members.

Thousands of players whined about how long elevator rides took. Bioware decided to address this in the sequel.

What do we get? Back to loading screens.

Good job, elevator whiners. This is exactly why I think gamers are idiots and developers shouldn't listen to them, because they have no idea what they actually want. I imagine this will become a huge gripe among the very same elevator whiners when ME2 is released, and they'll probably whine for elevators to come back in ME3 (which they will hate).

I never had a problem with the elevators.

I installed the game on my HD though.

It's a shame, some of the banter and news stories were funny.

I especially liked the one about the alien production of Hamlet, performed by a species that communicates via scent glands

We should get mini-game loading screens. Give me something to do other than watch a bar move across the screen.

I've never played Mass Effect. I'm sure I'd like it, just never got it.

And while I fully expect to be disappointed, I'd really like to see the NEXT round of consoles to do away with loading entirely. It should all be background streaming, all the time. It's crazy to think of the giant step backward (at least in terms of loading) that was taken when optical media replaced cartridges.

We'll need to move back to some sort of flash memory for that to happen. Perhaps the next generation of consoles should ship with SSDs onboard.

Huh? You can load in the background from disc; a small handful of games do just that. Or are you talking about loading speeds? I'll agree with you that disc drives are slow and with current tech won't be getting much faster than they are now.

My point is exactly what you said... a SMALL handful of games do it. It should be mandatory... loading screens should no longer exist.

I was responding to UD, but to address your comment: I'm not sure about making it mandatory because I can see it not working well in many situations. For example, which room gets preloaded if the game doesn't know which door you will enter? Let's assume there are memory restrictions in place that won't let you load multiple rooms at the same time.

people whining about the elevator rides were completely retarded

i mean seriously, did people think it took as long as it did just for the sake of it, not realizing it was in a state of loading? do people think that games are crafted out of magic or somethng?
